Birthday present

The christening of prince Milan

Again, my inspiration came from the architecture of the church. The cross in the centre and angel wings were inspired by the gothic style stained glass windows of the church. I added doves to the cake as a thought came to me of doves being released or flying through the cathedral of the church by the devine windows. A beautiful cake for the beautiful prince. Hannah Montana
Being my first commercially labeled cake, of which I have most likely infringed on copyrights... I think I did quite well with this one. Hahaha, and it was FUN too... AGAIN. This is a simple cake with Hannah Montana's logo letter art done by freehand.
As girly as the cake is, I thought I would top it off with some gerber daisies and black feathers. Style wise, I figured it was something Miley Cyrus would approve of? Haha... the absolute most important thing is that the little girl to whom this cake was made was very pleased with it. (October 2008)

Green hydrangeas

I think that out of all of the pictures of my cakes that have been taken, this one is the nicest. This was taken professionally, but it just made everything look that much better!

Rosey wedding cake
Little baptism

After the request of this cake, I am getting the impression that people like the design of Benjamin's baptism cake. Hahaha... which I'm glad for. After this request I decided to make it a point never to make the exact same cake twice. So, any other baptism cake I have made following the style of Benjamin's cake I ensured those other cakes were variations and not the exact same thing. (September 2008)
The birthday girl loves purple and puppies...
The little girl this cake was made for loves puppies and her favourite colour is purple... so I decided to combine the two and make a purple puppy cake. The puppy is made completely of fondant and totally edible.
This cake was so much fun... ok, so I understand I have said this about almost every cake I've made so far; but it's true!!! This was a cute cake to make, and I'd do it all over again! Anyone need a coloured puppy cake? Hahahahaha... (September 2008)

Chinese wedding anniversary
So, I glazed the fondant so it looks more satiny, but the majority of the detail went into the phoenix and dragon. Because I didn't want the satin sheet to look like a table cloth, I added flowers and red ribbon to the back of the cake. This was made for a friend of mine who had been celebrating her wedding anniversary. (September 2008)

The Hoff
I think I had the most fun with making the satin cusions and rolling his hair (all of it) individually and applying it. The flower was a last minute touch, which I think just sets the entire mood of the cake! The sheet on the heart shaped bed and the cusions were brushed with a red/gold iridescent petal dust to give that satiny look. LOVE IT!!!! (August 2008)
Cupcakes go corporate!

Friendship star
I absolutely loved this cake. This was made for a holiday party with friends of mine I have known all my life. As we all grow into our own lives, we don't get together as often as we used to. Making this cake for this particular holiday event was very special. The inspiration came from a very special place in my heart.
Because it was a holiday party after Christmas, I gave the cake a wintery feel. The the cake was made up of blocks of colour, igloo style. To add snow into the design, I piped little snowballs between some of the spaces of the coloured igloo blocks. The cake was also brushed with iridescent petal dust to give it an icy feel.
To encompass the heart of the event, I wrapped a fondant ribbon around the entire cake and wrote a quote "But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life; and thanks to a benevolent arrangement of things, the greater part of life is sunshine."- Thomas Jefferson
Finally, I wanted to include everyone in the cake to tie it all together. I acquired the list of everyone that would be attending... 56 of us were going to be there :) So I made 56 fondant leaves and flowers, each leaf with a name on it. This was cool because when people came in, it was just fun to find your name on the cake!! ... and what better way to top off a cake than with a snowflake star on top!! :) Absolutely one of my favourite creations. Her first frisbee
Coach!
Ahhh... Coach. This was such an exciting cake design, but when it came down to applying the design the excitement wore off really quickly... like at the 4th "C" I cut out by hand using an exacto knife, and laying it down meticulously to make the Coach pattern. Although this came out just the way I wanted, this had to be the most tedious and painstaking cake I have made yet.
Inspired by Coach, this "blingy" cake was done up with glimmery glamour all the way. (September 2007)
Grasses and toasted almond sand dunes of cheesecake
I was approached by a bride whose husband did not like any other type of dessert except for cheesecake. Her wedding theme was "beach"... the kind of beach you would find up north Ontario. This was extremely exciting for me because the ideas were just flooding my head!
The cakes are all cheesecake, which I sculpted on slopes again and put on risers of various heights to look like sand dunes. I then toasted some ground almond to look like sand you would find on a pebbly beach. I coated the cheesecake and cut out a hole in each one to insert a bud vase holding some blades of tall grass, wheat stems, and lavendar.
