I also had so much fun making this Spiderman inspired cake. In making this cake, I wanted it to be design focused vs making something that was representational. The design was kept fairly simple, but it relays the idea and theme well. (October 2007)
I couldn't agree more. This cake is exceptional because instead of focusing on spider*man* you just used the things we associate him with - making it stand out very, very well.
The story of me and my love affair with all things pretty and cake!
I studied at George Brown College for Culinary Arts and realized that cooking was great (but baking for me was WONDERFUL), but there was still something missing. After much soul searching I came to the conclusion that I was happiest as a fine arts student through earlier years of school. That little something that was missing turned out to be a craving for some sort of creative outlet. After a few years of baking and self taught cake decorating techniques (mainly through trial and error), I found myself looking to take cake to another level. I decided that I liked how cakes don't need to be confined to cylindrical shapes or squarish cubes of goodness. The possibilities are endless! Yes, Chef Duff is my hero :P
So the combination of my love for baking and fine art brought life to Cloud 9.
