Periwinkle and paisley

Vanilla lemon wedding cake with fresh white long stemmed white roses. This was my first cake where I attached fresh rose buds. I didn't want the cake to be contaminated by inserting the stems right into the cake, so I took all the greenery off the rose buds, cut off the stems, and attached the bud by using globs of fondant like glue at the base of the bud. Worked wonders!! Those roses aren't going anywhere and the cake is not being contaminated by sprays used on the flowers :)
The piping was just done free hand with whatever pattern my hands decided to make at the time. Haha. (May 2007)
