This was a simple but elegant cake in red. The bow on top was hand made out of real ribbon. The ribbon at the bottom tier of the cake is made of fondant. (November 2008)
The story of me and my love affair with all things pretty and cake!
I studied at George Brown College for Culinary Arts and realized that cooking was great (but baking for me was WONDERFUL), but there was still something missing. After much soul searching I came to the conclusion that I was happiest as a fine arts student through earlier years of school. That little something that was missing turned out to be a craving for some sort of creative outlet. After a few years of baking and self taught cake decorating techniques (mainly through trial and error), I found myself looking to take cake to another level. I decided that I liked how cakes don't need to be confined to cylindrical shapes or squarish cubes of goodness. The possibilities are endless! Yes, Chef Duff is my hero :P
So the combination of my love for baking and fine art brought life to Cloud 9.
